A Golden Day for Grads

Joe Ertsenian

If the walls could talk, as stories were shared.

There was laughter, excitement, and celebration in the Arnie as the Class of 1973 returned to campus. Mohawk College was proud to celebrate the 50th graduation anniversary of the Class of 1973 with a special event. The Class of '73, fellow Golden Grads from 1967-1972, and guests were invited to the college to recognize this milestone at the Golden Grad Celebration on Friday, May 5th.
52 Golden grads from 1973 were joined by 20 additional grads from 1967 to 72, Mohawk College employees and The Mohawk College Foundation staff to celebrate these fantastic graduates.

All graduates received a 50th-anniversary certificate and Golden Grad pin in honor of this special milestone from President Ron McKerlie and Alumni Director Wendy Makey.

There was a Walk Down Memory Lane wall with yearbooks, newspapers, clothing from the 50s to the present day, lunch, and a campus tour where Golden Grads could see the college changes and hear about student learning today at Mohawk College.
An event that created more memories for the fantastic people who are proud to call themselves Mohawk College Alumni.

What an event to honour Mohawk Golden Grads.  The dedication by Mohawk College's Alumni team to plan and organize these celebrations are foundational to bringing alumni back to the college.

Stay tuned for stories of the Golden Years in an upcoming Inside Mohawk email.
