Campus to Community donation recognized

The Mohawk College Foundation recently received a contribution from Foundation Chair Glen Steeves and his family in support of Mohawk College’s Campus to Community initiative. This contribution represents the completion of a $250,000 pledge to this important student engagement program.

“We are truly grateful to Glen and his family for their generosity and ongoing dedication to the well-being of Mohawk College students,” said Ron J. McKerlie, President of the Mohawk College Foundation. “Support of the Campus to Community initiative provides students with opportunities to learn first-hand about the positive impact that volunteerism and civic engagement have on peoples' lives.”

Glen SteevesSteeves is a former executive with McDonald’s Corporation and owner of a number of restaurants in the Hamilton area. As well as serving on the Mohawk College Foundation Board, he is currently a member of the board of Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House, and Executive in Residence of the DeGroote School of Business and past member of the Board of Governors for Mohawk College.

Operated by the Student Life office, Campus to Community promotes meaningful connections between Mohawk College students and the Greater Hamilton Community through volunteer outreach projects.

Through Campus to Community, students have volunteered with a wide range of community organizations, including Eva Rothwell Centre, Habitat for Humanity, Compass Community Health, Boys and Girls Club of Hamilton and Ronald McDonald House.
