Centre for Community Partnerships & Experiential Learning Updates

Following the changes in late 2024 and early 2025, some programs and services within the Centre for Community Partnerships & Experiential Learning have been discontinued and are no longer available.

The following is a summary of these programs and services and, where applicable, how to access alternative providers for these services.

• Community Employment Services - The college has ended its contract with the province to run the Community Employment Services location on Centennial Avenue and at the Fennell campus. These locations are no longer operating. Requests for employment services support should be referred to www.fedcapcanada.org. (Please note that it will take time for the FedCap website to be updated. Therefore, the Mohawk locations may still be identified on the site.)
• Academic Upgrading is no longer available through the college but continues to be available at other service providers in Hamilton and the surrounding region. Please connect with one of the providers below for more information.
  • The Adult Basic Education Association (ABEA) is the adult learning network in Hamilton.  All services are free. The ABEA can be reached at pathways@abea.on.ca  or 905-527-2222. *If you’re interested in attending classes through the school board, please contact the ABEA.
  • ACE Distance is an online provider that provides free programming where participants can access the same ACE courses/certificates offered in Academic Upgrading. They can be reached by emailing info@cscau.com
• City School and its associated programs and services closed on March 31, including all community sites.

The following programs and services are not impacted by the changes. These programs continue to be offered by Mohawk College:

• LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers) supports newcomers who want to improve their communication skills in English. For more information, visit the LINC program page on the college’s website.
• Deaf Empowerment Program – The college continues to offer the free Academic Upgrading Deaf Empowerment Program, which provides Deaf and hard of hearing adults the opportunity to upgrade their skills in math, reading, and writing, as well as basic computer and employability skills. • Dual Credit and Early College Graduation programs remain available for interested community members. For more information, visit the Early College Initiatives page on the college’s website.
