For being an incredible people manager and an amazing advocate for students, Pearl Mendonça is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. As Manager, Career and Student Success Advising, Pearl inspires her team of Student Success Coaches and Career Advisors to go above and beyond in everything they do. She is respectful and caring. She considers every scenario, every issue and every concern from a student’s perspective. She questions the impact of decisions on students and always finds a way to make their academic journey easier and more successful. She is an incredible leader known for her ability to forge deep connections and drive positive change across the college.

For everything he does to support students through his work on the Counselling team, Don Jamieson is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. Don is student-focused everyday, helping students navigate their way through Mohawk, and even showing up at Convocation to celebrate their success. With rising concern for mental well-being of students in postsecondary, the role of a counsellor is critical. Don's superior listening skills, ability to build rapport and be empathetic, and his sense of humour, make him a highly valued point of support for students. Don is the first to support in a crisis, leads his practice with his wisdom, and provides mentorship to other counsellors. He brings a wealth of experiential knowledge and skill to the Counselling team and is a fantastic colleague to collaborate with as the team works towards growing the important infrastructure that supports the well-being of Mohawk College students.
