EDH_Hussam_Eldib_Zoom

For his commitment to being a strong advocate for International students, Hussam Eldib is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. Hussam has worked as the International Student Career Advisor for the past four years. When he started at the College, it was a brand new role, and Hussam has taken a lot of time and effort to make the role his own. He works collaboratively with both his Student and Grad Employment teammates, as well as his colleagues in International to provide relevant, informative and helpful career development information to students, especially International students. His weekly workshops throughout are well-attended, and he is well-respected by the students. Hussam is a strong advocate for International student career needs, and he is passionate about helping employers see the value in hiring International students.

EDH_Christine_Sheldrake_Zoom

For always taking the time to understand an issue and for being a trusted leader that everyone can count on, Christine Sheldrake is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. As Manager Academic Operations, Planning and Reporting, Christine is called on to help resolve issues that are often complex and time sensitive. She always takes the time to understand an issue and the needs of the people she works with. The people she works with can always count on her to explore and understand the broader implications of an issue, and to bring forward new ideas and information to help resolve the issue at hand. In short, Christine makes it easy to get the work done, and for that, she is a valued member of the Mohawk team.

EDH_Kimberly_Mikalauskas

For everything she does to support our international students arriving in Canada during the pandemic, Kimberly Mikalauskas is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. As a Wellness Care Coordinator, Kimberly supports international students from the time of their arrival in Canada until the end of their quarantine. Kimberly is not only great at what she does, and highly organized, but also, she continuously and proactively looks for better and more efficient ways to address emerging issues and support international students. Kimberly recognizes that international students have unique needs due to language barriers, financial concerns and the stresses that come with being in an unfamiliar place. She goes out of her way to support the students, working weekends to book vaccine appointments, exploring available financial support options for students in need, and even personally making and delivering a care basket to an international student who did not have access to proper food. Kimberly makes our international feel welcome and supported while at the same time helping to ensure they stay healthy and safe.

For everything she does to support the college’s registration and convocation teams, Mary Male is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. As the Co-ordinator, Registration, Records and Convocation, Mary is always there to make sure everything to do with registration and convocation goes smoothly, while always bringing a smile to everyone’s face. Mary has a wealth of knowledge. She is very patient, and provides the best possible support to everyone she encounters and is always taking care to be thoughtful and thorough in the help she provides to others. The team is forever grateful for her expertise and support. Thank you, Mary for all that you have done for the team and Mohawk College.
