For supporting her colleagues and going above and beyond for students, Assistant to Associate Dean, Construction & Building Systems Susan Spurr is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero.
Susan Spurr stepped up to support the Stoney Creek management team during a time of transition. In her role, she takes on each task with grace and dedication, even when it falls outside her responsibilities. When asked why she dedicated endless hours to ensure schedules went out, she said that she is here for the students and wants them to have the best educational experience. As her nominator says, “Susan is the backbone to Stoney Creek campus, and we couldn't do what we do without her.”

For his dedication to students, Construction Techniques Program Coordinator and Professor Dan Collins is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero.
Dan has gone above and beyond for the student experience. In his teaching, he has contributed great ideas for classroom layout and curriculum delivery. He has also integrated the shop curriculum with other courses so students can better relate what they've learned from course to course. Dan has a great attitude towards other employees and helps out when he can. As his nominator said, “Dan is a forward-thinking person and a great asset to the future of Mohawk College.”

For his positivity and dedication to students, UX/UI - Web/Graphic Design Professor Mykul Abdallah is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero.
In his role at the college, Mykul embodies the spirit of positivity and creativity, making a significant impact on both students and the broader college community. Mykul’s classes are not just about learning technical skills; they are a space where students feel empowered to express themselves and explore their passions. His ability to maintain a positive and supportive environment encourages students to embrace their creativity, fostering a love for visual design that extends beyond the classroom. In addition to his vibrant teaching style, Mykul demonstrates unwavering support for his students and co-workers. He goes above and beyond to ensure that the people in his feels valued and understood. Whether through one-on-one mentorship, regular feedback, or providing additional resources, Mykul is always available to assist students and coworkers day to day activities. His commitment to student success is evident, and many students credit him with helping them achieve their goals.
His nominator noted that, “Mykul’s deep knowledge of visual web design is matched by his willingness to share it.” He continuously updates his skills, knowledge and curriculum to reflect current trends and technologies, ensuring that students are well-equipped for the industry.

For helping students navigate complex systems and get a strong start to the semester, Program and Student Support Officer Prasanthika Perera is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero.
Prasanthika is one of the first points of contact for students entering Mohawk's English for Academic Purposes (EAP) program. She helps domestic and international second-language students to navigate OCAS applications, pre-arrival language testing, OSAP applications, and registration, often under immense time pressure. Prasanthika, in addition to being a “registration and enrollment wizard,” as described by her nominator, also serves as an advisor to students. She provides key insights on procedural issues, and was an invaluable resource in the EAP program renewal process.
