Funding opportunities with rolling deadlines

MITACS Accelerate funding supports collaborative research projects with colleges, CEGEPs, and polytechnics (students and faculty) and the organizations that benefit from their expertise. An eligible partner organization’s financial contribution starts at $7,500. If you are interested in applying for MITACS funding, please contact Andrea Johnson. For other MITACS funding that are employer-led, please contact your co-op specialist.

NSERC Applied Research and Development (ARD) grants are suitable for a wide range of applied research projects that focus on technology. The ARD grants are intended to provide companies that operate from a Canadian base access to the unique knowledge, expertise and capabilities available at Canadian colleges and to train students in essential technical skills required by companies. The mutually beneficial collaborations are expected to result in economic benefits to the company and/or Canada. The ARD program will be closed from February to March and will re-open for applications on a rolling basis in April. If you have a project and partner in mind for this funding, please contact Andrea Johnson.

Funding is available from OCI’s Voucher for Innovation and Productivity. This program supports the collaboration between Academia and Industry to solve an industry-based problem and drive the commercialization of Intellectual Property [IP]. The institution will leverage the unique skills and specialized infrastructure that is instrumental to streamline internal innovations and commercialization needs. Resulting in targeted training of individuals and direct engagement with industry to work on commercially viable solutions. If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Andrea Johnson.

Funding is available for Health and Eng Tech faculty interested in working with an industry partner on a health innovation project as part of the Southern Ontario Pharmaceutical and Health Innovation Ecosystem (SOPHIE).  Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Andrea Johnson.

Planning is underway for Canada Foundation for Innovation College Fund applications for 2023 and 2024. The College Fund supports projects that enhance the capacity of Canadian colleges to carry out applied research and technology development and foster partnerships that generate innovative products, processes or services that address the social, business, health or environmental needs of a Canadian industry or community. A limited number of opportunities are available for colleges each year to apply to this fund. If your research team will benefit from this funding, please contact Gregor MacLean.

Do you need IDEAWORKS’s assistance in preparing your funding application? Be sure to plan in advance! While we’re always available to answer any questions you may have, we have very limited internal capacity until May.
