Upcoming Funding Opportunities

Do you need IDEAWORKS’s assistance in preparing your funding application? Be sure to plan in advance! While we’re always available to answer any questions you may have, we have very limited internal capacity until August. In the meantime, we can connect you with external resources to support your writing.

Funding is available for faculty interested in working with an industry partner on a health innovation project as part of the Southern Ontario Pharmaceutical and Health Innovation Ecosystem (SOPHIE). If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Neil Wilkinson.

SSHRC Partnership Engage Grants provide short-term and timely support for partnered research activities that will inform decision-making at a single partner organization from the public, private, or not-for-profit sector. Partnership Engage Grants are valued at $7,000 to $25,000 for one year. Please note that these grants do not cover faculty release or backfill. If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Neil Wilkinson.

Funding is available from OCI’s Voucher for Innovation and Productivity. This program supports the collaboration between Academia and Industry to solve an industry-based problem and drive the commercialization of Intellectual Property [IP]. The institution will leverage the unique skills and specialized infrastructure that is instrumental to streamline internal innovations and commercialization needs. Resulting in targeted training of individuals and direct engagement with industry to work on commercially viable solutions. If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Neil Wilkinson.

NSERC Engage Grants provide up to $25,000 of funding for up to six months. Engage Grants are designed to give innovative companies that operate from Canadian base access to the knowledge, expertise, and capabilities available at Canadian colleges. These grants are intended to foster the development of new research partnerships by supporting short-term research and development projects aimed at addressing a company-specific problem. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Plan to apply for Engage funding at least 5-8 months in advance of the project start date. If you have a project that you think would benefit from this funding, please contact Neil Wilkinson.

Innovation programs and opportunities for industry partners

Some external funding opportunities are open to our partners only- but they may be able to use the funding work with us. If you have questions about eligibility, please contact Neil Wilkinson.

The Canadian Technology Accelerator – San Francisco Health is currently accepting applications for its program until July 7.
