Deadlines: Winter Funding: October 14, 2022
Applying for an external grant? The Applied Research Faculty Release Fund provides funding for course releases for faculty that have received funding from an external grant (SSHRC, MITACS, NSERC, etc) but need additional release time to complete the project.
Application process: No application needed- funds will be allocated on a first-come basis as external grant applications are submitted.

NSERC 2023 CCSIF: Call for Letters of Intent due October 31
IDEAWORKS is currently accepting letters of intent from Mohawk research teams interested in applying for the NSERC College and Community Social Innovation Fund (CCSIF). This is an internal review that will determine the final applications that will be submitted for funding to NSERC.
Please note that while NSERC has not yet announced the 2023 CCSIF due date, we anticipate full proposals will be due to NSERC on or around February 1, 2023. We anticipate NSERC will accept a maximum of five applications per college, however, please be aware that it is rare for a college to get funded for two or more projects in one intake.
If you are interested in being one of the Mohawk College applicants, please complete the letter of intent document (link below) and send to Gregor.maclean@mohawkcollege.ca by Monday October 31 An IDEAWORKS team will review each overview and notify all applicants whether they are selected as one of Mohawk College’s applicant teams by Friday November 11. Plan your project overview based on the 2022 program details, since the 2023 details will not be posted until November. However, the program is anticipated to be similar.
Please send any questions to Gregor.MacLean@MohawkCollege.ca

Planning is underway for Canada Foundation for Innovation College Fund applications for 2023 and 2024. The College Fund supports projects that enhance the capacity of Canadian colleges to carry out applied research and technology development and foster partnerships that generate innovative products, processes or services that address the social, business, health or environmental needs of a Canadian industry or community. A limited number of opportunities are available for colleges each year to apply to this fund. If your research team will benefit from this funding, please contact Gregor MacLean.

Title: Building Inclusive Research Environments
This workshop will include foundational frameworks of understanding equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI), and how systemic and structural barriers have led to the lack of diverse representation in research environments. We will explore the ways in which bias and discrimination impact the diversity of the research team, the recruitment and hiring of trainees, and creating inclusiveness in the research environment. We will share guidance on embedding EDI intentionally and meaningfully in research practices.
