In Memory - Rich Krochak
Mohawk College IDEAWORKS' employee Rich Krochak sadly passed away on Saturday, July 12, 2025.
Rich was an essential part of the team as a contract technologist with the Unmanned and Remote Sensing Innovation Centre (URSIC) for the past three years.
He played a crucial role in helping keep equipment running smoothly, piloting missions and often stepping in completely on projects to assist when needed.
Rich played a large technical and pilot role in many projects: from being the first in Canada to shoot pyrotechnics off a drone to doing Innovative Solutions Canada (ISC) testing on helicopter-sized remotely piloted systems to helping with routine infrastructure inspections, including the URSIC stormwater project, he helped support many wins for the team and the college.
He was always listening, always ensuring his colleagues felt heard and respected, and never missing a joke that could be cracked.
Rich will be missed.
His family honoured him with a Celebration of Life earlier this week.
