Introducing Friendlier: The Blue Reusable Containers

Starting in September, select food items at the Cafeteria and MSA Food Court will be served in our new blue Friendlier reusable containers! This initiative aims to reduce the amount of waste generated on campus. Simply scan and return the containers to the designated blue Friendlier collection boxes to get your deposit back. Each container is thoroughly cleaned and sanitized for reuse.

How Does Friendlier Work?

1. Order: When you place an order on campus, it might come in a blue Friendlier container. You’ll pay a small deposit of $0.50 - $1.00, which you’ll get back when you return the container.
2. Enjoy: Enjoy your meal, and when you're done, scrape off any leftovers. There's no need to wash the container; a quick rinse is appreciated but not required.
3. Scan: Use the Friendlier mobile app to scan the QR code on the bottom of your container to get your deposit back.
4. Return: To get your deposit, drop the container in a blue Friendlier collection bin, located in the C-wing cafeteria, MSA food court, main hallways, and exits.

By participating in this program, you're directly contributing to Mohawk's Climate Action Plan Target #3, which focuses on aligning our food services, events, and branded products with our commitment to reduce emissions. Because they require 24% less energy to produce and can be reused up to 100 times, Friendlier containers help to lower our environmental footprint compared to single-use plastics. Together, we're fostering a more sustainable campus and making a positive difference!
