Local Girl Guides enjoy an evening in the shop

A group from an Ancaster Girl Guides troop recently visisted Mohawk's Fennell Campus to learn about trades and technology in a fun and engaging way.

Professor David Currie gave the girls an in-shop experience, with a presentation outlining trades in general and hands-on instruction on how to change a tire.  The girls had a chance to remove and install a tire on a mock up axle unit, using an air gun to install the wheel bolts. Each girl got a chance to start an engine -- something they had never done before.

This positive experience with in a skilled trades environment, and a bit of time in the Mohawk convertible, may result in new female students in the Mohawk auto shop down the road.
