Marketing Matters - April 2024
Last month, you were introduced to alt-text and how to incorporate it into your social media images. Wondering what to include in your alt-text? Here's a quick guide:
· Start by asking yourself "Who is doing what and where?"
· Include the person's name, if known (even if it isn't in the body of the post).
· Identify where they are.
· Use action words to describe what they are doing.
· Describe diversity, ambience and clothing if it is relevant.
· Use full sentences with proper punctuation (but keep them short!).
· Do not write "image of" (the assistive technology will let the user know it's an image).
Example 1: A diverse group of students posing in front of the Mohawk College sign.
Example 2: Two students studying in the Mohawk College library. One student uses a laptop while the other reads a book.
