Marketing Matters - August 2025

Creating a PDF? Here are two simple things you can do to improve your PDF's accessibility.

Avoid empty spaces in the file name. If the PDF is posted online, spaces in the file name will appear in the browser address bar as %20 which makes it difficult to read. You can replace the spaces with hyphens (Like-This.pdf) or underscores (Like_This.pdf).

Include a title in the document properties. The title should be a short description of the document and may be a repeat of the file name. For example, a file named Annual-Report-2025.pdf could have a title of '2025 Annual Report'. In Acrobat, the title field can be found under File, Properties, Description. If the PDF was originally a Word document, you can update the title in Word before converting to PDF by selecting File, Info to access the document properties.
