Meet Mohawk’s virtual assistant

With a little help from our partners at IBM, Mohawk launched a new virtual assistant for students and employees this week.

Built on IBM’s Watson analytics platform, the virtual assistant was designed to help communities across Canada and the U.S. respond to requests for information about COVID-19. The system can be accessed 24 / 7 to find answers to questions about the virus, including symptoms and where to go for testing. IBM has also allowed the college to tailor the system to respond to frequently asked questions from students including information about registration, fall semester plans and other hot button topics. IBM is providing the service to Mohawk for free for the next three months..

Employees are encouraged to use the Mohawk Assistant which can be found on the college’s website: www.mohawkcollege.ca. Look for the icon in the bottom right corner of the page. The system will learn from your interactions with it and help the team that is overseeing it at Mohawk to ensure that the information presented is kept relevant and up to date.

This is not the first time IBM has supported Mohawk. Last fall, IBM joined Six Nations Polytechnic (SNP) and Mohawk College in announcing a partnership to deliver the P-TECH School Model (Pathways in Technology, Early College High School) through SNP’s STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Academy in Brantford, Ontario. The college is also one of IBM’s Strategic Alliance Premier Academic partners and IBM is one of the Mohawk’s Future Ready Premium Employer Program partners.
