"Mo-Flow" Mindful Yoga Practice & Meditation is back!

"Mo-Flow" Mindfulness Yoga Practice & Meditation: Designed for stress relief, relaxation, stretching, and building strength.

  • Participants can bring a yoga mat but it is not required.
  • Comfortable clothing recommended.
  • Taught by Linda Rourke, certified Yoga Instructor.
  • Meditations facilitated by Kelley Hoyt from CTLI.
  • All levels of experience are welcome!

We are pleased to announce that we will continue to offer virtual yoga and meditation for Mohawk College staff during the 2022-2023 academic year. We believe that personal wellness should be an integral part of our lives and that practicing together within a community is even better. The Centre for Teaching & Learning Innovation (CTLI) and the Mohawk College Foundation are collaborating once again to continue these highly attended sessions.

Yoga will now be offered from Monday to Thursday at 6:45am to 7:30am with guided meditation to follow on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30am to 7:50am. We will officially begin these sessions on September 19, 2022.

According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, practices like meditation and yoga can help quiet your mind and allow you to look at problems from a calmer and more balanced viewpoint (CMHA, 2020). Over time, these practices can help you manage your response to stressful situations. Additionally, yoga is excellent for overall health, giving you an opportunity to lengthen and strengthen areas of the body that get compressed and out of balance with a technology driven lifestyle.

All levels of experience are welcome! No equipment is necessary, although eventually you may consider investing in a Yoga block and band. Household items can also replicate these tools and will be discussed in the Yoga sessions.
