Mohawk Athletics’ 2025 Bernetta Scime Holiday Toy Drive to support BGC Hamilton-Halton
The Mohawk College Department of Athletics and Recreation is continuing its tradition of hosting an annual toy drive in support of a local charity. The student-athlete-led Bernetta Scime Holiday Toy Drive has collected more than 700 toys since 2021.
This year's drive will support BGC Hamilton-Halton, a leading provider of accessible, affordable and reliable programs for children, youth, adults and families. The organization delivers transformative experiences focused on learning and skill development.
The toy drive honours Bernetta Scime, a Mountaineers Hall of Famer who spent more than 35 years supporting Mohawk student-athletes in various roles within the Athletics Department. Although retired, Scime continues to contribute to the Mountaineers community in numerous ways. Few have embodied Mountaineer spirit more deeply.
The annual initiative brings the Mohawk community together to collect toys for children and families in need during the holiday season.
Mohawk College will be collecting new, unwrapped toys until December 4. Donations can be made at the David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre front desk or in room R105. All remaining November Mountaineers home games will also feature reduced admission, with entry set at one donated toy per spectator.
