Mohawk’s Apprenticeship Community Hub and Workforce Planning Hamilton have published an Employer Apprenticeship Toolkit

The Mohawk College Apprenticeship Community Hub (The Hub) in collaboration with Workforce Planning Hamilton (WPH) has developed online and downloadable content to support regional employers looking to recruit and retain workers in the apprenticeship process.

Many small and medium employers experience barriers to recruiting apprentices and have difficulty navigating the apprenticeship process. This initiative aims to create a seamless navigation of the process, leading to more skilled apprentices hired to fill the skills gaps many companies have been facing. The Hub, located in The Marshall School of Skilled Trades & Apprenticeship at Mohawk's Stoney Creek Campus, will strengthen outreach and keep employers and apprentices informed during all stages of their apprenticeship path.

WPH continues to support Hamilton’s skilled trades shortages and furthers its research and understanding of how to support local skilled trades employers. WPH has a weekly newsletter that features local labour market updates, skilled trades information, and current projects and partnerships underway.

Mohawk's Apprenticeship Community Hub is a free resource that:

  • delivers navigation resources, support and programs;
  • showcases the trades and stimulates learning;
  • helps remove barriers for those looking to participate and succeed in the skilled trades; and
  • keeps apprentices in movement to strengthen our local, provincial and federal economy.
