Mountaineers Varsisty Highlights September 29, 2023

Mohawk Mountaineers women’s soccer were honoured at the national level this past week, entering the CCAA top-15 rankings. The Mountaineers are currently the 15th ranked team in the country after picking up three wins.

Through six matches this season, Mohawk has a 5-1 record and are currently sitting first-place in the OCAA west division.

The Mountaineers also saw success on the cross country race course. In the opening race of 2023, the Mohawk men’s team placed first place overall and the women finished second. This was led by Sage Sulentic having an individual second place finish for the men and on the women’s side Ava Snyder placed third.

Mohawk men’s soccer only won one of their three matches this past week while softball played to a 3-5 record.

In exhibition play, Mountaineers men’s basketball upset the McMaster Marauders, winning 74-64.

Tessel had his best OCAA performance in his three-years as a student-athlete with Mohawk. At the Seneca Invitational on Friday, Tessel placed seventh overall. Captain of the Mountaineers men's cross country team, it was three years in the making for Tessel to help lead the program to a first-place finish.
