New report from Mohawk College as part of HEQCO's Access and Retention Consortium

The Higher Education Quality Council of Ontario (HEQCO) has published this report of an Access and Retention Consortium (ARC) project that examines interventions to improve student outcomes. The project involved comparing two groups of students who attended a summer orientation program at Mohawk College; half were assigned a writing exercise that encouraged them to reflect on their personal aspirations and set specific goals while the other half completed the standard orientation workshop. The researchers were interested in examining whether the writing exercise could improve graduation rates as well as retention rates after first term, first year and second year. The primary investigator for the report is Mohawk's Dean of Students, Tim Fricker.
