Patient Partnership Resource Bank

Mohawk College is excited to begin the development of a Patient Partnership Resource Bank, an innovative, patient-centered initiative designed to bring lived healthcare experiences directly into classrooms across our health programs. This digital library will feature short, reflective videos from patients and caregivers, offering students and faculty authentic insights into what care truly feels like.

What is the opportunity?

We are inviting patients and caregivers to participate in a 5-minute pre-recorded educational video that will be embedded into curriculum across healthcare programs. These videos will support learning, discussion, and reflection around patient-centered care, communication, professionalism, and system navigation.

Participants will take part in a guided video interview at Fennell Campus, with questions shared in advance. No prior experience needed, just a willingness to share your story.

Time commitment: approximately 1 hour total, including preparation and recording
Experience required: none
Opportunity type: video recording

Why it matters

School of Health students learn clinical skills every day but understanding the patient and caregiver perspective is what transforms good care into exceptional care. By sharing real experiences, participants help shape how future healthcare professionals listen, communicate, collaborate, and care.

Video topic areas

Participants will be guided to speak about one focused topic area connected to their healthcare experience, such as:

  • Communication & Information Sharing

  • Feeling Respected, Seen, and Heard

  • Emotional Experience of Care

  • Patient & Caregiver Involvement

  • Transitions, Handoffs, and Continuity of Care

  • Professionalism & Teamwork

  • Accessibility & Barriers to Care

  • Safety, Trust, and Comfort

  • Lived Experience Over Time

  • “What I Wish Healthcare Students Knew”

A small time commitment. A lasting impact.

Each 5-minute video will become a powerful teaching tool helping students pause, reflect, and learn directly from those they are preparing to serve. These voices help shape more compassionate, inclusive, and patient-centered care across the system. If you or someone you know are interested in contributing to the Patient Partnership Resource Bank, we invite you to get in touch by emailing patientsaspartners@mohawkcollege.ca.
