Read this if you are coming to work at a Mohawk College campus this fall.

If you are coming to a Mohawk campus this fall, there a few updates and reminders you should be aware of to ensure your transition to campus is a smooth one.

Mohawk campuses are mask friendly.
As of April 18, 2022, Mohawk suspended the requirement to wear a mask on campus. Though the mask requirement is no longer in place, the use of masks is supported and encouraged. Disposable masks are available at the security offices at each campus.

Do not come to campus if you are feeling ill.
Stay home if you are feeling ill. If you test positive for COVID or have symptoms that are consistent with the virus, check with your local public health authority or the province for current direction on self-isolation. Please follow the normal process for reporting sick days to your manager.

Mohawk continues to ask students and employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 or have had symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19 to complete the online COVID-19 Self Disclosure Form so that we can help reduce the spread of the virus. Reporting your illness allows the Campus Wellness team to provide you with any supports, direction or advocacy you might need.  It also helps us to understand how COVID-19 is impacting our community and assist efforts to reduce the spread of the virus.

If you are ill while working remotely, you are encouraged to take a sick day if you do not feel well enough to work. If you need to take a sick day, please follow the normal procedure for reporting sick days to your manager.

Get your vaccine.
Mohawk suspended its vaccine requirement effective April 18, 2022. Vaccination remains the best protection against COVID-19 and all students and employees are encouraged to become vaccinated, if they are not already. The Ontario government has expanded eligibility for second COVID-19 vaccination booster doses to Ontarians aged 18 and over in order to provide an extra layer of protection for those who may need it. Booster doses continue to be available through Mohawk College Health Services by appointment. Appointments can be booked by emailing healthservices@mohawkcollege.ca. Walk-in clients will be accepted as scheduling allows.

For more information about the COVID-19 vaccines visit the City of Hamilton website.

Employees working at the Institute for Applied Health Sciences.
Employees who work at Mohawk College’s Institute for Applied Health Sciences (IAHS) campus are reminded that they are required to follow McMaster University protocols while attending that campus. Please visit the McMaster University website for up-to-date information.

Things can change on short notice.
While most pandemic-related health measures remain suspended at this time, the college continues to monitor the situation and we will adjust our plans if conditions change or we receive new direction from Public Health authorities. Access controls and measures such as mandatory masking and the college’s vaccination policy could be reinstated on short notice if conditions change. Any updates will be shared with the college community via email, social media and the college’s website: www.mohawkcollege.ca/covid-19.
