Remembering Patricia Rolston

Founder of Mohawk Music program passes at age 89

Patricia Rolston, founder of Mohawk College's Applied Music program, passed away at age 89 in her hometown of Vancouver, B.C. at the end of March. A concert pianist and educator, Patricia founded the Applied Music program in 1977 after successfully convincing the college's administration that the program was needed by the community. She served as the program's founding chair until 1989, and during this time also founded the Mohawk College Singers. Patricia's son Darcy Hepner is an accomplished jazz musician and has served as a faculty member in the Applied Music program since 2005. For more information, read the Obituary from the April 1 edition of the The Hamilton Spectator.
