Reminder: Health and Safety is Everyone's Responsibility

The health and safety of our campus and the broader Hamilton community is a shared responsibility. By following the direction of Public Health authorities and adhering to safety protocols on campus, at placements and in the community, we can all do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Below are some important reminders, tips and resources to help you stay healthy and safe this semester.

1. Mandatory daily health screening for everyone coming to campus

If you are required to attend campus for in-person training you must complete the daily screening questionnaire, on the day you are coming to campus. This questionnaire is available on the Mohawk Safety App under the COVID-19 section. The results of your screening will be emailed to you and to Mohawk Security.

If you do not pass the health screening or if you are experiencing any symptoms, do not come to campus.

Students who are unable to attend campus or complete any course work due to illness should contact their faculty directly.

2. What to do if you test positive for COVID-19 or have symptoms consistent with the virus?

Get tested if you think you have symptoms of COVID-19

COVID-19 testing is available by appointment through Hamilton Public Health. For details on how to book an appointment visit Hamilton Coronavirus Assessment Centres.

Report confirmed or suspected COVID-19 cases to Mohawk College

Mohawk College is asking that students and employees who have tested positive for COVID-19 or have had symptoms that are consistent with COVID-19 to complete an online COVID-19 Self Disclosure Form. All the information you share will be kept confidential.

3. Wear a Mask or Face Covering:

The use of masks and face coverings is mandatory in the City of Hamilton and at all of Mohawk College’s campuses and learning hubs.

In addition to wearing a mask, you should also continue to do the following:

Wash Your Hands and Cover Your Cough

Wash your hands frequently with soap and water, or use hand sanitizer when hand washing is not available. Cover coughs and sneezes with your sleeve or a tissue.

Practice Physical Distancing

Stay 2 metres (6 feet) apart from others, and avoid gatherings where physical distancing is not taking place. If you are at a social gathering, be safe and do not share things such as drinks, cigarettes, vaping devices and other related items.

Mohawk College takes the health and safety of our college community very seriously. We expect all members of our community to do their part in reducing the spread of COVID-19. Failure by students or employees to follow any of the above-mentioned protocols may result in a formal review by the Student Rights and Responsibilities Office (SSRO) or Human Resources, respectively.

Understand your role. Follow the rules. Stay safe.
