Review your Published Phone Contact Information
Teams Phone Migration Complete
IT is happy to share that we have successfully completed the College-wide migration from Skype/Lync for Business to Microsoft Teams Phone!
This was a significant undertaking, and we would like to thank everyone for their cooperation and support throughout the transition.
As part of the migration, some staff and departments were assigned new telephone numbers. With the move to Teams Phone, everyone now has a direct 10-digit phone number, and the previous extension-based dialing system is no longer in use.
While the migration itself is complete, we’ve noticed that some College webpages and other materials still reference old extensions and telephone numbers that are no longer active.
Please note that any extensions outside the ranges of 2000-2549 and 2700-2760 are no longer active and should be removed or updated wherever they are published. Extensions within these ranges have been converted to direct 10-digit phone numbers. For example, extension 2199 is now 905-575-2199.
We’re asking all staff, particularly those responsible for departmental communications and contact information, to take a few minutes to review anywhere their individual or departmental phone numbers may be published and update them as needed.
This includes:
- College and departmental webpages https://www.mohawkcollege.ca/about-mohawk/contact-mohawk-college
- Email signatures and templates
- Department contact lists and directories
- Forms, documents, and publications
- Signage, posters, and business cards
- Any other internal or public-facing materials containing telephone numbers
Please ensure that any outdated extensions or telephone numbers are replaced with the appropriate 10-digit numbers, including your department’s main contact number.
Keeping this information current is important to ensure that students, staff, and members of the community can continue to reach the right people and departments without difficulty.
IT does not have visibility into every location where telephone numbers may have been published, nor do we have the ability to update these areas directly. If you identify outdated contact information in an area you cannot update yourself, please reach out to the appropriate department, website administrator, or content owner to coordinate the necessary changes.
Thank you again for your support throughout this project and for helping us complete this final housekeeping step.
