Student design wins architectural award

A Mohawk Architectural Technology team won the top prize in the Ontario Association for Applied Architectural Sciences annual competition.

The team took 1st place for BIRD YURT, a project to design a new home for the Hamilton Aviary, which may one day turn into a real project.

Team members Sierra Weppler, Chris Lucas, Bin Zheng, and Sam Winger were recognized as having the best final capstone project from any provincial School of Architectural Technology in the province. The students won $2000 and conference passes for the annual OAA/OAAAS conference this month.

The entry projects are assessed based on criteria, including design, sustainability, technical competency, and presentation.

Congratulations to the winning team.
