For making a great impression on more than 450 local high school students and community members, Katherine Shirton is a Mohawk Everyday Hero. Katherine led the planning, promotion and execution of the first-ever Music Career Day this past May. The event drew more than 450 high school students and community members from Peel, Haldimand, Brant County, Niagara and Hamilton. Music Career Day was an opportunity to network and learn from industry professionals through panels, workshops and presentations. The feedback was outstanding with everyone commending the organizers on running such an excellent event. On the feedback forms submitted by guidance counsellors, every one of them mentioned that this was an amazing opportunity for their students. The counsellors said they`d been waiting a long time for an event that offered students exposure to the various avenues in the music industry. Music Career Day helped to promote Mohawk’s two music programs and the City of Hamilton. It also highlighted all that we as a college have to offer students.

hero
