The IDEAWORKS Catalyst Fund returns for 2022-2023

Since it was established as the ARIE Fund in 2015, the IDEAWORKS Catalyst Fund (ICF) has helped 70 Mohawk faculty and staff and dozens of students gain research experience and work on innovative projects.

After a multi-year hiatus, IDEAWORKS is pleased to share that the ICF has returned and will be accepting applications in 2022-2023.

The fund is designed to develop and build internal capacity for research and innovation by providing the funding needed for faculty and staff to turn their ideas into solutions. With this goal in mind, IDEAWORKS has redesigned the ICF model to focus on three different streams of funding:

-          Grant Writing Support Fund: Provides up to $3,250 in funding to support faculty release time or to hire external grant writing support to prepare for external applied research applications. Funding is available for Fall 2022 or Winter 2023. Applications are currently open- click to apply!

-          Applied Research Faculty Release Fund:  Provides funding for course releases for faculty that have received funding from an external grant (SSHRC, MITACS, NSERC, etc) but need additional release time to complete the project. Applications for this fund will be awarded on a first-come basis, as applicants apply for external funds.

-          Project Seed Fund: Provides funding of up $12,000 for faculty and staff to work on a new project (same as the previous ICF). Applications for 2023-2024 are due in Winter 2023, with application information coming in January 2023.
