Update on Easing of Restrictions for Ontario

With the Province of Ontario set to begin easing public health measures on January 31st, we want to provide our campus community with an update on what that means for the college.

Please note that the easing of restrictions will not affect Mohawk’s academic plans for the Winter semester. We will continue to deliver the academic instruction for the Winter semester using the current format as communicated to the college community on January 11th.

Fitness centres to reopen January 31st with capacity limits

The David Braley Athletic and Recreation Centre (DBARC) and Stoney Creek Fitness Centre will reopen to students and staff on Monday, January 31st. Both facilities will operate at 50% capacity. Please refer to mohawkmountaineers.com for operating hours.  Masks must be worn at all times and will be strictly enforced by fitness centre staff. Users will also be required to book timeslots to use the facilities. Timeslots will be limited to one hour per day and can be booked up to seven days in advance. For booking information visit https://mohawkcollege.innosoftfusion.com/.

Library Services

Library services will continue to be available on-campus at Fennell, IAHS and Stoney Creek locations and virtually. Access to the library continues to be through bookable seats for both computers and study use. Please refer to the Library webpage for hours of operation and additional details.

Students Services

Student Services and supports will continue to be offered remotely and in-person.

Events and Activities.

All in-person events, internal and external, remain cancelled until the end of February. Some external academic bookings are permitted in specific areas, such as MCE and the testing centre. The college continues to monitor the situation and will make a decision about events for the remainder of the semester by the middle of February.

Important reminders:

Controlled access, mask and vaccine requirement to remain in place.

Mohawk continues to control access to all campuses for the Winter semester with designated entrances and security screening checkpoints. Anyone coming to a Mohawk College campus will not be permitted access, or be able to attend in-person classes or access in-person students supports and services, until they have uploaded their proof of vaccination and have it verified by Mohawk or have an APPROVED exemption from the college.

Anyone attending a Mohawk campus is required to wear a college-supplied mask while on campus. Masks must be worn regardless of a person’s vaccination status and are available at the Check-in Desks.

Mohawk has vaccines available for students, employees and their immediate family members.

Students and employees are reminded that Mohawk College Health Services continues to offer COVID-19 vaccinations and boosters for students, employees and their immediate family members. Appointments are available based on vaccine supply and can be booked by emailing healthservices@mohawkcollege.ca.

Thank you for your continued patience and understanding. We will continue to provide updates as new information becomes available.
