Windows 11 Upgrade

IT Services has begun updating eligible Windows workstations to Windows 11.

This upgrade is part of our regular technology lifecycle and helps ensure devices remain reliable and protected. While there is never an ideal time for change, this upgrade is necessary to keep our device environment secure, supported, and current.

Over the coming months, eligible devices will be scheduled for upgrade.

Upgrades will be phased to help minimize disruption and allow IT to address any issues along the way.

As part of this process, Microsoft Office will be updated to Microsoft 365. This includes a new version of Outlook. See our Outlook for Employees guide for details on the differences between Classic Outlook and New Outlook.

Opt-In Phase

Important: Microsoft Access database users should not upgrade during the opt-in phase.

The opt-in phase will run from June to December 2026. Employees are encouraged to take part during this phase at a time that is most convenient for them in one of two ways:

  1. You can self-start the upgrade by following these instructions.
  2. You can request a wipe-and-reload upgrade performed by a Service Desk technician. Contact the IT Service Desk to schedule a time.

If you experience any issues before, during, or after the upgrade, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Planned Roll-Out Phase

If you don’t upgrade during the opt-in phase, your eligible device will be scheduled as part of the planned rollout in 2027. Announcements will follow.

Devices that are not compatible with Windows 11 will be reviewed and may be scheduled for replacement as part of the normal lifecycle process.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we complete this important upgrade.
