Advertising students honoured in national, international competition

Mohawk College Advertising students recently gained national and international recognition at highly regarded competitions.

Mohawk teams swept the National Advertising Challenge student awards category this year.

The gold medal-winning entry was prepared by first year students, Jared Mason and Ethan Andrews, who won for their campaign “Used Trips”. Second-year Mohawk students Kailey Turner and Kristy Korevaar won Merit recognition for their entry “Sunwing Adventures”. The contest challenged students to make Sunwing Vacations more relevant to the millennial generation. Kailey and Kristy’s entry rewarded travellers for being more adventurous by partnering Sunwing with the online learning site Skillshare. Jared and Ethan, on the other hand, considered how millennials love to go thrifting – and came up with a platform where travellers could buy and sell used trips.

The win, netted Jared and Ethan a paid internship at one of Canada’s top agencies, FCB.

This is Mohawk Advertising’s seventh straight year winning gold at the NAC.
