Race, Indigeneity and Anti-Black Racism and the Question of Educational Futures | Sessional Lecture – March 18 2021, 12:00 pm – 2:00 p.m.

Interested in building skills and learning more about the intersection of race, indigeneity, anti-black racism as it pertains to the future state of education?

This session is devoted to discussing race, anti-Black racism and the intersections of oppressions. Educators will be engaged in the theory and practice of race, Indigeneity and anti-Black racism. We will engage the concepts of race, Indigeneity, integrative anti-racism, anti-Black racism, as well as the implications for addressing social inequities through a ‘thinking through’ of new educational futurities for contemporary learners and educators.

This session is intended to support professors and other teaching and learning partners (i.e. academic administrators/managers, student success, experiential learning and applied research) in building Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) capacity to enhance their teaching and learning practice. Gain new EDI insights and perspectives to unleash the potential in your discipline of study, program/s, and support of student learning.

Developing, Acting Upon & Sustaining Culturally Responsive Pedagogy (CRP) in Higher Education | March 22, 23, 29

Interested in building skills and learning more about what culturally-responsive teaching and pedagogy means and how it applies to your teaching? 

  • Module 1: Awareness & Understanding of CRP in Higher Education - March 22, 9-11:30am
  • Module 2: Teaching Praxis - March 23, 12pm-2:30pm
  • Module 3: Culturally Responsive Pedagogy in Space: Cultural Border Crossing - March 29, 12pm-2:30pm

These courses focus on several objectives:

  • building awareness of equity pedagogies,
  • understanding culturally responsive teaching at the post-secondary level,
  • how to develop a culturally responsive pedagogy and
  • curriculum and supporting students’ learning through a culturally responsive approach.

No prerequisites required and you can take one or all.
