Community partnership highlighted by Booster Juice Student Section at home games

The Hamilton Honey Badgers of the Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) announced Monday a multi-faceted partnership with Mohawk College and McMaster University that provides basketball, academic and community engagement benefits.

The Honey Badgers will have an exciting presence on each campus. At Mohawk College, professional work experience opportunities for students through the Honey Badgers and collaboration with community outreach initiatives form the basis for a partnership that sees the college being the primary practice and training site for the Honey Badgers throughout the 2019 season. Hamilton will also practice at McMaster University, where the organization will have a visible presence around the David Braley Athletic Centre and at Marauders sports events through sponsorship and various initiatives.

“We’re proud to be partnering with two exceptional academic institutions in helping introduce the Hamilton Honey Badgers brand to students, faculty, staff, and the communities they impact,” said John Lashway, president of the Hamilton Honey Badgers. “Some of the best professional basketball players Canada has playing around the world will train this summer at McMaster University and Mohawk College, while playing in the new Canadian Elite Basketball League from May through August. These partnerships provide an opportunity for students to gain work experiences and to collaborate with our players in community outreach programs that will serve people across Hamilton.”

The new professional basketball franchise will showcase this partnership at each of its home games during the regular season at FirstOntario Centre with the creation of the Booster Juice Student Section.

Where Hoops and Hype Meet

The Booster Juice Student Section at FirstOntario Centre will quickly become the energy core of Honey Badgers home games. Loaded with fun accessories such as “thunder sticks,” and “BIG heads,” and led by the popular CRASH Rhythm percussion band, the Booster Juice Student Section will be a place of pure excitement.

For just $20 per game, students will have special courtside baseline access in an exclusive section housed with concessions and a special bar area. Additionally, Booster Juice will reward students in this section with special prizing for making enough noise to respectfully distract opponents while “boosting” the energy level throughout the arena.
