The Board of Governors Staff Elections are currently in progress. Administrative, Academic, and Support Staff positions are included in this election cycle.
Voting will commence on Monday, March 23 at 8:30 am, and will conclude on Wednesday, March 25 at 4:30 pm.
Employees are encouraged to review the profiles of all candidates by visiting the BOG Election Channel on MyMohawk.

Shantal Woolsey
To my valued Academic Staff colleagues,
I hope this message finds you well and set to enjoy a beautiful spring.
I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself to those individuals whom I have yet to meet, and to those who know me: I’d like to proffer my candidacy for the Board of Governors’ Academic Staff position. Please consider voting for me.
My teaching career at the College began in 1997, and I have worked at the Fennell, Brantford, Stoney Creek, Aviation and IAHS campuses in various capacities and as a part-time, sessional, partial-load, and finally full-time (2011) professor of Communication. Over the years, I’ve also worked in Curriculum Development in CTLI (2015, 2018, 2023-present), Academic Plan Facilitator (2014), and have been involved in various projects at the College to enhance student success (iPad Project, Apprenticeship to OCC, ePortfolio Team, Plagiarism Tutorial, A Culture of Integrity video tutorial, etc.). I have mentored colleagues through both the CEDP and the HR mentorship programs, and have also benefited as a mentee.
I am honoured to be a candidate for the position and would appreciate it if you would take the time to review the candidate profiles (under the Employee tab in MyMohawk) in an effort to see which candidate you believe could best communicate your needs as the Board’s Academic Staff representative. Dear Colleagues,
I’m writing to share a little more about who I am and to ask for your support as I run for the Academic Staff representative position on the Board of Governors.
My professional home at Mohawk has been in the School of Nursing, where I’ve had the privilege of teaching for the past seven years. In addition to teaching, I’ve spent 14+ years as a Registered Nurse, and these combined experiences continue to shape how I approach collaboration, leadership, and decision-making.
Nursing and nursing education is rooted in advocacy, accountability, and systems thinking. Nursing brings a unique lens grounded in service, ethics, collaboration, and community impact—values that align strongly with the responsibilities of the Board. I have learned to listen carefully, bring people together, identify gaps, and provide real-time solutions. I believe strongly in keeping people at the center of the work we do, and in making sure that different perspectives are heard and respected.
Our academic community is made up of talented faculty, counsellors, and librarians who care deeply about our students and about the future of the College. I’m pleased to share that I’m running for a second term as the Administrative Staff Representative on Mohawk College’s Board of Governors.
Serving in this role has been a meaningful opportunity to represent administrative staff and contribute to important conversations about the future of our College. As we continue to navigate change across our sector, I would be honoured to continue bringing the perspectives of our administrative community to the Board.

Meet the Candidate: Gabriela Soraggi
Sueheir Saddik
I am pleased to be a candidate for the Administrative Staff representative position on Mohawk College’s Board of Governors.
As Manager of Institutional Research, I work with employees across the College to conduct research and analysis that support program reviews, labour market insights, student success initiatives, and institutional priorities. Through this work, I collaborate with many areas of the College and contribute to evidence-informed decision-making.
In addition to my experience at Mohawk, I bring over 20 years of leadership experience across post-secondary education, banking, and telecommunications, including experience in audit, risk management, and analytics. These perspectives support thoughtful governance, accountability, and strategic decision-making.
If elected, I would be committed to representing the perspectives of our Administrative employee group and contributing to informed, balanced discussions that support Mohawk’s students, employees, and community.

Patrick Angielczyk
Dear colleagues,
I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and share that I am a candidate for the Support Staff representative position on Mohawk College’s Board of Governors.
Since joining Mohawk College in 2017 as an Audio-Visual Technologist within Information Technology Services, I have had the opportunity to work with colleagues across many departments in support of the learning environments our students and faculty rely on every day. Through this work, I have developed a strong appreciation for the important role support staff play in supporting students, faculty and the broader Mohawk College community.
If elected, my goal would be to represent our colleagues with professionalism, transparency, and a commitment to listening.

Patrick Angielczyk
Steven Mikalauskas
Steven Mikalauskas has worked at Mohawk College for 14 years in a variety of progressively evolving roles and currently serves as Team Lead – Operations Specialist and Station Manager for INDI 101.5, Mohawk’s FM Community Radio Station.
Throughout his time at Mohawk, Steven has supported programs across the School of Creative Industries, contributing to daily operations, technical services, and student learning environments. He has also supported the growth and development of newer programs, including Game – Design and Esports Administration, as these areas expanded.
Beyond his operational role, Steven has remained actively involved in College life through open houses, community projects, partnerships, and various committees. He previously served a two-year term on the President’s Advisory Council, spent seven years on the Joint Health and Safety Committee, and held approximately eight years of union leadership within OPSEU Local 241, serving as Steward, Chief Steward, and Vice President.
Steven is running for the Support Staff Representative position on the Board of Governors because he believes support staff perspectives are an important part of the College’s success. He brings a practical, solutions-focused approach grounded in collaboration, accountability, and respectful advocacy, with a strong commitment to listening and representing support staff thoughtfully in broader College decision-making.
