Mohawk College to honour seven outstanding leaders at Spring Convocation ceremonies next week
Mohawk College will honour seven highly respected college, business and community leaders with special recognition at next week’s spring Convocation ceremonies. This year’s awards will be in the categories of Distinguished Fellow, Distinguished Fellow – Adjunct Professor, and new this year, President Emeritus.
Mohawk College’s Distinguished Fellows make invaluable contributions to the college through academic advisement and student engagement, community outreach and strategic advisement to the college’s senior leadership team. Participation in the Distinguished Fellow program is by invitation only, with the title conferred and service to the college recognized during convocation ceremonies.
President Emeritus
The college will present the first-ever President Emeritus award to former Mohawk College President Keith McIntyre. Keith joined Mohawk College in 1976 as vice president. He was appointed president of Mohawk College in 1980 and led the college for 17 years, retiring in 1996. The title of President Emeritus will be conferred on Keith at the Creative Industries, Communications and Global Studies ceremony on Wednesday, June 21, at 9 a.m. In a fitting tribute to the former president, the honour will be presented in the McIntyre Performing Arts Centre, which is named in honour of Keith and his family. The Distinguished Fellow will be conferred on Steve at this year’s Nursing and Health Studies ceremony Monday, June 19, at 2 p.m.
Dr. Robin Hesler
Former President, Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS)
Distinguished Fellow – Adjunct Professor
The Distinguished Fellow – Adjunct Professor will be conferred on Dr. Hesler at the Allied Health Convocation ceremony on Tuesday, June 20, at 9:30 a.m.
Bill Young
Founder and Chairman, Social Capital Partners
Distinguished Fellow
The Distinguished Fellow will be conferred on Bill at this year’s Liberal and Administrative Studies ceremony on Thursday, June 22, at 9:30 a.m.
Dr. Sheri Longboat
Associate Professor, University of Guelph
Distinguished Fellow – Adjunct Professor
The Distinguished Fellow – Adjunct Professor will be conferred on Dr. Longboat at the Building and Construction Sciences ceremony Thursday, June 22, at 7 p.m.
John Marinucci
Founder and Chair of Trustees, Marinucci Family Foundation
Distinguished Fellow
The Distinguished Fellow will be conferred on John at the School of Engineering Technology convocation on Friday, June 23, at 2 p.m.
The Hon. Catherine McKenna
Former Member of Parliament for Ottawa Centre and Minister of the Environment and Climate Change
Distinguished Fellow
The Distinguished Fellow will be conferred on Catherine at the college’s Fall Convocation ceremony on October 12.
