Mountaineers varsity highlights – November 25

Varsity_November25Mohawk Mountaineers have officially launched the annual Bernetta Scime Toy Dive with all proceeds going to Martha House – Good Shepherd.

For a number of years Mohawk's Department of Athletics and Recreation has organized and ran the toy drive to support a local Hamilton charity or organization during the holiday season.

On the court, men’s volleyball was able to come away with a victory this past week, winning in four sets over the Conestoga Condors.

Men’s basketball, who remain nationally ranked at number eight in the CCAA, also came away with a 92-90 win over the Niagara Knights.

Mountaineers Athlete of the Week (in partnership with the Mohawk Students’ Association)

Peter Pilling (men’s volleyball)

Pilling (St. Catharines, ON) was also named an OCAA Star of the Week.

The first-year setter has showcased significant talent with the Mountaineers through the early parts of the season. This past week Pilling had a combined 58 assists in two matches, including a season-high 36 in a four set victory over the Conestoga Condors. He currently ranks ninth in the OCAA with 152 assists through seven matches.

Nov. 24: Defeated the Niagara Knights 92-90

Women’s Basketball (1-6)

Nov. 19: 89-73 loss to the Conestoga Condors

Nov. 24: Lost 60-25 to the Niagara Knights

Women’s Volleyball (5-2)

Nov. 19: A 3-1 (20-25, 13-25, 25-18, 16-25) loss to the Conestoga Condors 


Men’s Volleyball (4-3)

Nov. 19: Defeated the Conestoga Condors 3-1 (22-25, 27-25, 25-19, 25-14)

Saturday, November 26:

·         Women’s and men’s volleyball host the Humber Hawks for matches beginning at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. – it is the final home game of 2022 for Mohawk volleyball

Thursday, December 1:

·         Mountaineers women’s and men’s basketball end the 2022 portion of their schedule at home versus the Sheridan Bruins. Games are at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
