Celebrating Workplace Well-Being, May 5–11, 2025

Each year during the first full week of May, workplaces across Canada recognize Safety and Health Week—a time to celebrate the vital importance of creating safe, healthy environments for everyone.

Workplace safety isn't just about regulations—it's about people. Safety and Health Week reminds us that everyone has a role to play in injury prevention and mental well-being. From physical safety practices to mental wellness support, small daily actions can create lasting change.

Wellness Activities to Try This Week

Looking for ways to participate in Safety and Health Week?

Try these daily wellness moments designed to help you recharge, stay mindful, and take care of your body and mind:

Monday: Drink Water

Start your week with hydration! Drinking water helps regulate digestion, improves skin, and boosts energy. Aim for eight 8-ounce glasses a day. Can’t get there right away? Start with one extra glass and work your way up!

Tuesday: "I Spy" 3 to 5 Things

Shift your focus to the positive moments. Each day, jot down 3–5 things you appreciated. Reflect at the end of the week to boost feelings of gratitude and resilience.

Wednesday: Cook with a New Food Item

Experiment with your menu! Pick a new fruit, vegetable, or whole grain and add it to your grocery list. Cooking new foods is great for nutrition and creativity.

Thursday: Sing Your Favorite Song

Turn up your favorite tune and sing your heart out. Music is proven to reduce stress and lift your mood. Do at least one activity today that brings you joy—whether it's singing, drawing, or watching your favorite show.

Friday: Create a Wellness First Aid Kit

List 10 things that bring you comfort—like petting your dog, taking a walk, or seeing a happy photo. Write each one down on small pieces of paper or sticky notes. Keep them somewhere handy for when you need a moment of calm.

Other Ways to Celebrate Safety and Health Week:

  • Host a toolbox talk or wellness break.
  • Share a safety tip or story with your team.
  • Recognize colleagues for good health and safety habits.

Safety and Health Week is more than a celebration—it's a reminder of the daily commitment we all make to protect ourselves and one another. Whether you take five minutes to reflect or join in team events, every action counts.
