Support services available for those impacted by the loss of Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS752

The Mohawk College community is deeply saddened by the tragic events involving Ukrainian Airlines Flight PS752. We extend our deepest condolences to the families and friends of the 176 people who lost their lives on the morning of January 8. Among those lost were several students and faculty from McMaster University and other institutions from across Ontario and Canada. Our thoughts are with our friends and colleagues at McMaster and with the Iranian-Canadian community.

We understand that people in the campus community may be impacted by this tragedy. Counselling services are available to support any students who may need assistance. Monday to Friday, counselling services are available by emailing counselling@mohawkcollege.ca or calling 905.575.2211. International students can contact keep.meSAFE for 24 hour free counselling support at 1.844.451.9700, and students who have Student Care insurance can contact Empower Me for 24 hour free counselling support at 1.844.741.6389.

Employees who need support may access the college’s Employee and Family Assistance Program (EFAP). Morneau Shepell, our EFAP provider, is available 24/7 and can be reached at: 1.844.880.9142.
