COVID vaccines and PCR testing to be available through Health and Wellness

The Health and Wellness Centre and our Student Wellness team want to keep you up to date on some new initiatives we are implementing to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 within our campus community.

COVID-19 Vaccination

Starting January 3, 2022, Health Services will be offering COVID-19 vaccination for employees and immediate family members. Appointments will be available based on vaccine supply and can be booked by emailing healthservices@mohawkcollege.ca

Vaccinations are by appointment only, and walk-ins will not be accepted.

Vaccinations are available January 3, 2022. We are currently making appointments for individuals 50 years and older requiring booster shots and for anyone eligible for a first or second dose (or third for those vaccinated with vaccines not approved by Health Canada).

Appointment booking will open up for those over 18 who are eligible for booster shots starting December 20, 2021. Most individuals must wait 84 days after their second dose to be eligible to receive a third/booster dose. Dates and eligibility are subject to change based on local or provincial direction.

An Ontario health card is not required for vaccination. Please indicate if you do not have an Ontario health card at the time of booking so we can let you know what documentation to bring to your appointment.

For more information, or to book your appointment, please contact: healthservices@mohawkcollege.ca

Health Services will be booking appointments through the holiday closure, until December 31, 2021.

COVID-19 PCR Testing

Health Services is now offering PCR testing for the diagnosis of COVID-19. PCR Testing is available by appointment only and is not offered in the Health and Wellness Centre. If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or have symptoms, complete the provincial screening questionnaire and email healthservices@mohawkcollege.ca with a screen shot of your completed questionnaire. A nurse will arrange to meet you in a safe space to complete the test as soon as possible. Testing is available Monday-Friday from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

Students, staff and immediate family members of staff are eligible for testing if they meet the provincial requirements. For those age 12 and under, Health Services is offering less invasive nasal-buccal tests. These tests involve a cheek and lower nasal swab, instead of the NPS (nasopharyngeal) swab.

There is no charge for testing and testing does not require an Ontario Health Card. Testing is not available for travel or events purposes. PCR Testing is not available during the closure.

Self-Disclosure Form

Student Wellness and Occupational Health and Safety continue to manage risk to campus through case and contact management, in collaboration with Hamilton Public Health Service. Please continue to fill out the self-disclosure form if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19, have been tested or exposed, or have symptoms. The self-disclosure form can be found at www.mohawkcollege.ca/self-disclosure
