Ecuador Staff Experience 2022-2023: ATTENTION COFFEE LOVERS

Sonya and kids

In February 2023, a group of faculty and staff at Mohawk College will be travelling to Ecuador to participate in Operation Groundswell’s Food Revolutions Program. This CTLI funded initiative is designed for faculty and staff to develop intercultural awareness, develop a skill set to organize and facilitate short-term abroad experiences with students, and engage in targeted learning about decolonization, food sustainability, and climate change. As part of their pre-departure training, participants will engage in fundraising to learn how to support students in fundraising initiatives, as well as to help offset some of the cost of the experience. Some of the funds raised will also be allocated towards a bursary to help support a future student with participating in a global experience.

This is where we are calling out to all coffee lovers to consider buying a bag of coffee for yourselves, or even a gift for someone this holiday season!

Cloudforest Coffee is from the mountain valley region of Intag, Ecuador.  This organic, sustainable, socially-responsible cuppa will make you feel as good as it tastes.  Sip in solidarity with the farmers of the region who are working for environmental conservation and a fair standard of living for their communities, organically grown and harvested, direct trade with coffee farmers’ co-operative, shade-grown in a cloud forest, and supporting eco-system conservation and resisting open-pit mining.  Cloudforest Coffee is roasted and packaged in Ottawa, Canada.

Your funds will support a community of sustainable coffee farmers in Ecuador AND a Canadian coffee roaster.  More info on Cloudforest Coffee:  https://cloudforestcoffee.ca/
