Everyday Heroes for October 2020

For making sure a student’s needs are always met Nicholas Triantafillou is a Mohawk College Everyday Hero. Nick is an Accessibility Counsellor with Mohawk’s Accessible Learning Services team. He is the team’s most senior member and is known for his passion and dedication to students. Nick serves students at both the Fennell and IAHS campuses, where he goes above and beyond to ensure that their needs are being met. He is caring, compassionate and kind, and we are lucky to have him on the team.

For making Mohawk a safer place, Cathy O'Donnell is a Mohawk Everyday Hero. As Director of Security Services, Cathy's vision of training her teams to respond to any issue has been instrumental to ensuring the safety of Mohawk's students, employees and guests. This has been especially true during the pandemic. Cathy and her team are always available to answer questions or address concerns. She is always open to looking at better ways of doing things, and she has shown true leadership throughout this crisis. Mohawk College is fortunate to have Cathy leading our security team. President Ron McKerlie presented Cathy with the award during a Microsoft Teams meeting on October 21.

For her expert guidance on facility related projects, Julia Hansen is Mohawk College Everyday Hero. As Manager of Planning at Mohawk, Julia works relentlessly to provide project management services to several key facility projects. Julia shares is always willing to share her knowledge and takes the time to educate others on building and architectural concepts to help the decision making process. Julia has been instrumental to the college during this time of great change, putting her skills and knowledge to work in ensuring that the college is ready and safe for our staff and employees to return to campus.
