New! Land Acknowledgements resource page now available on mohawkcollege.ca

The first full week of November is “Treaties Recognition Week”. This annual event honours the importance of learning about and reflecting on our relationships with the land we live on, our relationships as Indigenous and non-Indigenous people on Turtle Island, and the ongoing impacts of colonialism on those relationships.

Indigenous Initiatives, Education & Student Services has supported the development of a new Mohawk College webpage on Land Acknowledgements. Thank you to all of those who shared your voice and your commitments for us to include in the launch of this new page.

The Land Acknowledgement webpage will:

  • Hold and share existing land acknowledgements from employees across the college
  • Act as an accessible resource to support employees to draft their own personal land acknowledgment
  • Provide employees with materials and links to learn more about treaties and relationship with land

We are grateful for the commitments that our colleagues have made to furthering their own understanding of land and relationships and are pleased to launch this new resource. We hope that it will help you to further develop your own relationship to the land we all share.
