Register Today for Multifactor Authentication & Self-Service Password Reset

Information Technology Services  has introduced Multifactor Authentication (MFA) and Self-Service Password Reset (SSPR).  If you only use a password to authenticate when logging in, it leaves you vulnerable to attackers. If the password is weak or has been exposed elsewhere, an attacker could be using it to gain access to your Mohawk account. When you require a second form of authentication (MFA), security is increased because this additional factor isn't something that's easy for an attacker to obtain or duplicate.

The use of Multifactor Authentication (MFA)  is common practice for many organizations, for example, it is now used for online banking to protect your accounts and personal information. This is an important step the college is taking to protect our data and systems further and to ensure that our systems and technology remain available to the college community.

Register for MFA now by visiting this link:  aka.ms/mfasetup

MFA will be required for all Mohawk College users starting in February.

All users will have a 14 day grace period after the dates below to allow for registration when it's convenient.

Faculty & Staff -> Starting February 1st, 2023
Students -> Starting February 27th, 2023

MFA will not be required while onsite at any Mohawk College Campus

What is MFA? MFA works by requiring two or more of the following authentication methods or factors:

  • Something you know - Typically a password.
  • Something you have - Such as a trusted device like a phone or hardware key.
  • Something you are - Biometrics like a fingerprint or face scan.

Multifactor Authentication can also further secure password resets. When users register themselves for Multifactor Authentication, you will also be registering for self-service password reset in one step. FAQ

After successfully providing your username and password you will be prompted for your MFA verfication.

What MFA Verification Methods are Available?

You may setup one or more of the following methods to verify your identity during your login.

MFA Verfication Methods include:
